Nanban Movie Story
A story about 3 friends surviving in one of the top college of India, controlled by Principle Sathyaraj who is very discipline oriented. Vijay is a smart student who really loves Machines, so he does well. Jeeva from a very poor background and Srikanth from a upper middle class and Vijay is from a rich background.
Vijay looks things in a different way and he thinks the education system should change and the same way, he always ranks first. But Srikanth and Jeeva do not do well being very close with Vijay. So Vijay helps them to get a job and pass exams.
But who is Vijay? that is the second half story and done pretty well.
Ileana is Sathyaraj’s daughter and Vijay’s love scenes are very good and interesting. Sathyan is a “Padips” guy and always a mugs up the whole book.
Nanban Movie Good Points
- Hats off to Shankar for doing a remake to satisfy Tamil audience with a good movie
- Hats off to Vijay for choosing this role instead of some stupid director and stupid story
- Songs were really good and created an expectation
- As usual Shankar’s song scenes were great with whole train art and huge sets, nice work
- Everyone of the actors have done their best for this film
- Second half better than first half
- A good family entertainer
- No funny dances of Vijay

Nanban Movie Bad points
- First half was not enthusiastic, I saw people not laughing for some jokes
- English dialogs may not reach all the audiences
- As told Srikanth should not have been chosen for this film, But still, this movie is a great come back for him
- Sathyaraj a good actor, but he could not compete with the Hindi character in terms of the way of speech
- It took about 30 mins to sync in the movie, mainly because of the new and different role by everyone
- Ileana entering in Tamil after a long time, but I see wrinkles on her face, when she smiles
- Shankar being a great director should focus on little things like Pregnant costume and the born baby
- We can clearly see it is a pillow
- The new born baby is a doll

Great review – most of the negatives are just comparisons to Hindi version so I take it that other than those mistakes, this movie is perfect

Why watch this monkey see monkey do copy version of a great Bollywood movie….3 idiots….which was a copy of dumb and dumber and several other hollywood greats….still 3 idiots had a plot of its own….

The 3 Idiots film itself is a film adaptation (basically a REMAKE) of a book called "Five Point Something" (written by a Hindi author). So just because you want to hate, don't spread such bullshit.
Everyone agrees this is a shot by shot copy of another movie…when a piece of art is the same imitation we usually call it street art or cheap art….
there can be only one mona lisa by da vinci…if you see same picture somewhere else it was probably made by a less talented beggar to make some money on the real thing…

@Imran – Gemini bought the Tamil & Telugu remake rights of the movie and asked Shankar to do it. No one (including Shankar) denies that it is a remake. Inspite of being remake, there is a freshness about the movie and the credit goes to the team. Reg your last line, I think you must be joking. Shankar never gave continuous flops. There are lots of remade movies that turned out crap and lot many copied movies where the director categorically denies them or calls them "inspiration". Your comment just shows how ignorant you are. Or may be you are one of those anti-vijay person who criticize him just for the heck of it. Get a life.
A hit or a flop is a relative thing…shankar + vijay combo has only yielded flops so far…I am not the one saying it but the media and some vijay fans….

If you see the title song, you will clearly find that the Story, Screenplay is by Rak Kumar Hirani & Abhijit Joshi. I think you are talking about some other movie. Anyways thanks and bye

So many directors would take credit for copying but SHANKAR specifically gave credit to Hirani in all interviews and the audio function. Shankar's not some stupid, cheap wannabe who takes success off other people's work.
If you didn't like this movie, just leave it at that. We all know that you didn't even watch the film. Even people who've seen the original enjoyed it. Many people haven't even watched the original due to the language barrier so the film was refreshing for the,.
Shankar doesn't need to lie because the movie genuinely had a strong run. Everywhere house full. Why can't they collect 5 crores like that?

Boman Irani (Hindi Virus) seemed so natural.. Sathyaraj acted a little artificially.. but the movie is still great.
Suppan Sir, did you watch Vettai? Looks like a crap movie. Linguswamy takes us back to those 80-90s where everything becomes so predictable. Madhavan's acting is a total crap. Arya does a decnt job but again those irritating stunts and punch dialogues are irritating. Strange that Vijay started doing decent scripts but others are doing crap.
