You can find all the Tamil movies released in 2009 here. I wanted to rate 20 best movies of 2009. But again, just don’t want to create conflicts between the best movies. So I have categorized the 2009 Tamil movies into four categories.

B – Good Tamil Movies
C – Average Tamil Movies
D – Worst Tamil Movies

then watch the movies which i say… some movies are good but u have not seen… watch alagkar malai, Madurai Sambavam,Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, Sindhanai Sei, AAEE and Gnabagangal. I personally liked alagkar malai, AAEE and Madurai Sambavum.. just put alagkar malai in good movie list suppan.. comparing vettaikaaran, KAADHAL KADHAI and malai malai, this movie is 100% time pass.. though hero was new face, vadivelu was fabulous. just add it in good movie list.. it is worth a watch and good time pass movie

Yeah Suppan, I agree with Vijay's list.
Azhagar Malai is super comedy film and is a huge success. It was directed by the director who is directing Vijay's upcoming film Sura. Madurai Sambavam is pretty good film, the hero has done good, he resembles S.J. Surya a lot
Sindhanei Sei is one other superb film. Many don't appreciate the film but I'm sure you will (the film was a sucess in the BO). It's a thriller/crime movie and keeping what genre it is in mine, it's a different and good film with some nice songs.
But the best has to be Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru. It's a great comedy/family film.
Go watch them and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a full review of them ASAP.

I cant believe you put Mariyadhai,Kadhal Kadhai,Aiyantham Padai and Naan Avanillai 2 in the B category, while you put Peranmai,Aadhavan,Kanden Kadhalai in the C category.
Mariyadhai was sleep-inducing.
Kadhal Kadhai was a porn-movie.
Aiyandam Padai was a film with leading serial actresses
Naan Avan Ilai 2 is just plain boring.
also, these 4 films were all flops in TN.
On the other hand, Peranmai was appreciable for its different theme. Aadhavan was hilarious especially because of Vadivelu. Kanden Kadhalai, though it wasnt as good as Jab We Met, was a good family entertainer, with fine performances by Santhanam and Tamanna was a delight onscreen. And also, Peranmai, Aadhavan and Kanden Kadhalai are all hits in TN. Aadhavan is the 3rd highest profit maker of 2009 (the highest obviously was Ayan, and UnnaiPolOruvan was the 2nd highest).
i expected naan kadavul to be in list A…
it was technically very good… the film was shot with film and the quality was good…
then yaavarum nalam too… thats the 1st indian film to be remade in hollywood(officially)…
